north of 60: what one wears to meet polar bears
tomorrow i set off on an adventure i never thought i'd get the chance to take: a press trek north of 60 to watch polar bears in their natural habitat and to see the aurora borealis in all its glory.
it's a trip that means a lot to me given i was fascinated by environmental politics and animal preservation during my undergrad (i studied international relations and peace and conflict studies).
the only question i've been pondering over the past few weeks in the lead-up to my excursion is what the heck does one wear when it's -30?
turns out loads of stuff from canada goose, cougar boots, tilley, brooks (running gear layers!) and burton (snowboarding layers!). thank you to all of the companies who are generously helping me make this a safe, happy and warm trip.
now, i'm off to (learn how to) save the polar bears.
bisou, bisou!
